Byrne Custom Joinery is dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability throughout its operations. We take a comprehensive approach to environmental responsibility, encompassing our office space, workshop floor, and the products we deliver.
To contribute to the Irish Government & Climate Action Plan targets, which aim for a 50% reduction in energy-related greenhouse gas emissions and a 50% improvement in energy efficiency by 2030, our company has implemented various sustainable initiatives.
A key green initiative in the factory, our Biomass boiler is fuelled using waste materials generated from our production operations, heating our factory, offices, and spray shop.
We have our own modern transport fleet, as well as operating a FORS Silver policy demonstrating exemplary levels of safety, efficiency and environmental protection.
We have installed a 150-Kilowatt solar PV panel system on our factory roof which is now generating 50% of our energy consumption. Byrne Custom Joinery procures its remaining electricity from a National Grid supplier who utilises alternative renewable sources like wind, solar, and hydro electric power.
Byrne Custom Joinery operates a lean manufacturing system through its production facility. This has helped us optimise material usage as well as reducing non-production hours leading to an efficient, orderly and structured manufacturing process.
All waste materials generated at the workshop and on-site are recycled, effectively minimizing the amount of waste sent to landfills, whilst collaborating with accredited waste suppliers to ensure responsible waste management practices. By actively implementing these measures and continuously seeking new sustainable practices, Byrne Custom Joinery demonstrates its commitment to environmental stewardship and a greener future.
Byrne Custom Joinery is FSC® certified, demonstrating our commitment to use sustainably resourced timber in our manufacturing processes. FSC® products are available on request.
This confirms that Byrne Custom Joinery employ good practice and comply with the requirements laid out by the FORS Standard to prove we are safer, smarter and greener with our fleet operations and demonstrate exemplary levels of best practice in safety, efficiency and environmental protection. By achieving FORS Silver accreditation for our fleet we are compliant with the CLOCS Standard for Construction Logistics and with TfL’s WRRR (Work Related Road Risk).
