The origins of our three generation master craftsmen business

Byrne Custom Joinery was founded originally as a sideline business by Kevin Byrne, father of the CEO PJ Byrne. Along with his wife Nancy, Kevin set up home on a 5-acre site in Ballyadams, County Laois in 1957, which is today the location of Byrne Custom Joinery. Byrne’s Cabinet Making & Joinery Works evolved by default and out of necessity as the family’s main business, further to their original grocery shop hitting declining times, with the onset of supermarkets in local town and villages. PJ served his time as a cabinetmaker and formed a company called Byrne Woodcraft Ltd with his father. Sadly, Kevin had to then retire early due to ill health and passed away in 1997. The business continued, with PJ, his brother Michael and staff working relentlessly to complete projects in Ireland, the UK and around the world. This then led on to the workshop space being largely expanded and fitted with the most up to date machinery in 2006. Fast forward to 2010, PJ’s sons Carl & Thomas joined the business, and it was later renamed Byrne Custom Joinery. The company again expanded and developed into what it has become today with it’s state-of-the-art facilities in Ballyadams, locally employing 30 people and delivering high end custom joinery projects in Ireland and the UK.
